Adult Health & Social Care Services – Mental Health Services (Forensic & Psychotherapy), Learning Disability Services, Physical Disability & Sensory Impairment Services, Older People’s Services and Substance Misuse Services.
Staff must read paragraphs 2.27 to 2.42 Health services, 2.73 Other health professionals, 2.92 to 2.94 Adult mental health services, 2.95 Visiting of psychiatric patients by children and 2.96 Alcohol and drug services of Working Together to Safeguard Children as revised in 2006.
Access to the revised Multi agency adult protection procedures (2009) can be found in the document library attached to these procedures.
Staff will be aware of situations where their client poses a risk of harm to a child (or to children) or to an unborn child. This may be within a family setting, a work setting or a community setting. In such circumstances they will be trained to employ these procedures to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
Staff involved in the delivery of services such as sports and leisure centres, libraries etc. play an important role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. They are in a position to recognise child welfare issues in their day-to-day dealings with the public.  The role of the Local Authority’s sports, culture and leisure services is set out in paragraphs 2.23 to 2.24 of “Working Together to Safeguard Children" 2006”.

Staff should be familiar with “What To Do If You’re  Worried A Child Is Being Abused"
