"Working Together to Safeguard Children" , includes in its “sport, culture and leisure” section (2.23-2.24) services such as libraries, play schemes, play facilities, parks and gardens, events, attractions, museums, arts centres.
These services must have their own, written, procedures for staff.
“What To Do If You Are Worried A Child Is Being Abused” , provides a basis for such a procedure.
Written procedures must reflect advice and guidance offered in the Community Services Portfolio ‘Yellow Compliance File’; Codes of Practice issued through National Governing Bodies, the Shropshire Safeguarding Through Sport Group, the Health & Safety Executive and the Local Authority.
Staff need to be aware of the name and location of a designated person able to advise and assist them if they have a concern. They must also be aware of these procedures and of how to express any concern.
