Youth Offending Service(YOS)
The principal aim of YOS is to prevent offending by children and young people.
Statutory Guidance for YOS can be found in chapter 9 of Statutory Guidance on Making Arrangements to Safeguard and Promote the Welfare of Children Under Section 11 of the Children Act 2004" available in the document library of these procedures.
YOS is a multi agency team coordinating the work of the Police, the Probation Service, the Connexions Partnership and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
All staff must be familiar with their own agency procedures, these procedures and paragraphs 2.115 to 2.117 of Working Together to Safeguard Children as revised in 2006. Referrals, where there is a concern for a child, should be handled in accordance with "Managing Cases" in these procedures.
