Common Core of Procedures
The Board wishes to encourage member agencies to adopt a common core of written procedures compatible withe Board's Procedures, which will ensure that individual cases are dealt with so as to include:
- Responding to concerns about the welfare of a child and making a referral to a statutory agency that can take action to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
- Undertaking an assessment of the child’s situation and so decide what to do next
- Taking urgent action to protect the child from harm if necessary
- Taking part in strategy discussions where the concerns are that the child may be suffering from significant harm and, when appropriate, contributing to a Child Protection Conferences
- Within the Child Protection Conference and any subsequent Review, deciding whether a child is at continuing risk of significant harm and is, therefore, to be the subject of a child protection plan.
