Children from other countries

Children from other countries may be particularly vulnerable for a number of reasons. The three main categories referred to in Working Together to Safeguard Children are: migrant children, who may have come to Telford & Wrekin with their parents, either from one of the new accession EU states or from other parts of the world; child victims of trafficking, who are brought in to the country illegally, usually for sexual exploitation or for cheap domestic labour, and unaccompanied asylum seeking children.

The Board has made a commitment that a child will be provided with services which will keep them safe, regardless of their legal status or where this status is uncertain. Professionals who have concerns about a child should consult with their manager to determine an appropriate response.
